По замыслу должно напоминать "bag" ("мешок, сумка"), ср. разговор Бильбо со Смаугом в книге "Хоббит". Имелось в виду также, что у хоббитов возникали ассоциации с Bag End (последнее означает дно "мешка" ("bag") или "pudding-bag" – то же самое, что "cul-de-sac" {Французское выражение "cul-de-sac", вошедшее в английский язык, буквально переводится как "дно мешка" и означает "тупик". "Bag End" – его дословный перевод на английский. Английское слово "pudding-bag" (буквально "мешок, в котором варится пудинг", также так могут называться другие мешки с дном) используется здесь в переносном значении "тупик". См. Bag End.}), местным названием дома Бильбо. (Так называли ферму моей тети в Вустершире, которая находилась в конце тупика). Ср. также Sackville-Baggins. Перевод должен содержать корень со значением "мешок". -
